Raze Crews

crews Have you ever heard the saying, “There is strength in numbers?”  If one person can make a difference then just think what a group of people working together can do.  That’s what Raze Crews are all about…groups of teens making a difference.

There are crews in over 140 schools and communities in West Virginia.  Get involved with your school’s crew or contact your Regional Tobacco Prevention Specialist (RTPS) to help you start a new crew.

What does it take to be a “real” crew?

Crews need several things to be “official.”  First, you need to find an adult, a.k.a. Adult Advisor, who is willing to help out.  We know what you’re thinking…”I thought Raze was all about youth empowerment?”  Well it is, but your Adult Advisor is someone who can help you get organized, help out when problems come up or just be there to lend moral support.

After your Adult Advisor is in place, start recruiting new members.  Once your crew has members, select a crew leader.  The leader should be someone who definitely isn’t afraid of taking a stand and taking charge.  This person usually manages meetings and isn’t afraid to speak up and speak out against Big Tobacco.

Just getting people together isn’t what Raze is all about.  To be a crew, you need to be active by performing, registering and evaluating commotions.  What are commotions you ask?  Click here to find out.
